CLIMATE PROTECTION: MANY STEPS – ONE DIRECTION

WHAT WE DO TO PROTECT THE PLANET 

We have decided to take measures to protect our planet. In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, we are taking clear steps to combat climate change and its effects. We are using the available resources even more consciously and responsibly than before and have actively improved our environmental footprint with various projects in recent years. 

Glacier 

In 2022, we calculated our corporate carbon footprint for the first time and consequently used a climate protection focus in the fourth quarter to raise awareness among our Group's employees. We kicked things off by taking part in Glacier Climate Week, which was streamed live in our Innovation Hub but could also be followed online by our employees. 

Due to the high level of interest, we participated in the Glacier Climate Action Day in October 2023. Hundreds of companies across Europe took part to get inspiration, motivation and tips on how to implement climate-friendly measures. 

Renewable energies 

Renewable energies play an important role in the fight against the climate crisis. Austria has set itself the goal of only using electricity from sustainable sources by 2030. And we are also making a contribution to this. 

A brand-new photovoltaic system was installed on the roof of the Casino Baden garage in autumn 2023. With an impressive output of 130 kWp, this will enable the emission-free generation of around 130,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year. An energy potential that we will consume 99 per cent of ourselves. 

On the environmental side, we expect to save around 42 tonnes of CO2 per year, which is roughly equivalent to the emissions of 800,000 kilometres driven by car or the output of 1,400 CO2-binding trees. 

In addition, we are constantly working to reduce our energy consumption and thus our greenhouse gas emissions. We are currently examining various measures to increase efficiency at our company headquarters and in our casino operations.
