CLIMATE PROTECTION & SUSTAINABILITY AT CASINOS AUSTRIA AND THE AUSTRIAN LOTTERIES

We are actively committed to climate protection and pursue a clear sustainability strategy. Our goal is to continuously reduce the carbon footprint of our operations. The focus is on energy efficiency, renewable energies, and the promotion of electromobility. 

CO₂ reduction and energy efficiency

In 2024, we installed comprehensive energy monitoring systems in all Austrian casinos. These systems enable a detailed analysis of energy consumption at each location. This allows us to identify areas of high consumption and develop targeted measures for reduction. 

Our goal:

• 400,000 kWh less energy consumption per year
• This corresponds to around 144 tons of CO₂ emissions, which we save through renovations and optimizations. 

Renewable energies in our casinos

We invest in photovoltaic systems and other sustainable solutions:

• Solar panels have been installed at Casino Velden.
• We have created additional capacity at Casino Baden.
• Further locations such as Bregenz, Salzburg, and Seefeld are in the planning stage. 

Currently, 66% of our energy consumption (33,677,000 kWh) comes from renewable sources. In addition, we already generate 188,000 kWh ourselves – completely without fossil fuels.

Electric mobility and charging infrastructure 

The number of electric cars in Austria is rising steadily and making an important contribution to the decarbonization of transport. As a responsible company, the Casinos Austria & Austrian Lotteries Group actively supports the climate-friendly mobility transition – for guests and employees alike.  

We promote the use of electric vehicles: 

• In 2024, we installed 20 charging stations at our casino locations in Baden, Velden, and Zell am See. 
• Another 35 stations are located at our headquarters on Rennweg in Vienna, and  one additional station is located at our central warehouse. 

Our contribution to climate neutrality 

With these initiatives, we are making an important contribution to Austria's goal of becoming climate neutral by 2040. We remain innovative and committed to further reducing our ecological footprint.
